Svetlana Tverianovich – Balance: How to create balance, counter balance and over balance. This will help the dancer to be very understandable and powerful on the floor during the competition and practise


Key learning points:

  • How the Jive can often be the difference between winning and losing despite often being the least thought about, least practised and least liked of all 5 dances.
  • Why the dancer should not be continuously trying to balance but instead should be aiming to create a counter balance so the movement becomes easier to produce and looks more natural and controlled.
  • This does NOT mean the body should be tense! Stretching the muscles and staying relaxed will give more freedom of movement.
  • How the laws of physics should be thought about and applied to keep the dancer’s centre of Gravity and to keep the weight centred during each counter-balance position.
